After more than one year of cooperation since the agreement was signed, the two parties have achieved significant results in various fields, including education, science and technology, healthcare and preventive medicine, and community service and engagement.
Notably, the Can Tho City Department of Health has cooperated with Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy to train human resources for the health sector, including postgraduate training and short-term training courses. In the 2024–2025 academic year, thousands of students and trainees completed internships at hospitals and health centers across the city. The University also led eight city-level scientific projects funded by the state budget (approx. 11.2 billion VND), and contributed over 277 million VND to support victims of Typhoon Yagi.
At the conference, 12 contributions were made, focusing on future cooperation in training specialized medical personnel, implementing research and technology transfer, and improving healthcare services. Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy expressed hopes for continued support through favorable policies.
Ms. NGUYEN Thi Ngoc Diep, Vice Chairwoman of the Can Tho City People’s Committee affirmed the strategic importance of the partnership in positioning Can Tho as a regional healthcare hub. She urged relevant departments, especially the Department of Health, to finalize a detailed cooperation plan and emphasized the need to enhance the quality of healthcare human resources, prioritizing those trained at the Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
The conference served as an important occasion to strengthen the sustainable connection and development between the University and the city, aiming to better serve the areas of education, science and technology, healthcare and preventive medicine, and community engagement.
