On June 1, 2026, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy (CTUMP) held an online signing ceremony with Project Vietnam Foundation (PVF), USA, to establish cooperative activities supporting healthcare initiatives for children in the Mekong Delta region.
The ceremony was chaired by Prof. Nguyen Trung Kien, MD, PhD, Rector of CTUMP, with the participation of representatives from the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Public Health, Center of Services and Continuing Education, Department of Pediatrics, Department of Rehabilitation, and Department of Psychiatry (Faculty of Medicine).
Representing Project Vietnam Foundation were Dr. Quynh Kieu, President of PVF, and Ms. Le Van, Training Program Coordinator.
Dr. Quynh Kieu, President of PVF, introduced the Foundation and its activities to participants during the ceremony.
During the meeting, representatives of both parties reviewed and discussed the proposed areas of cooperation outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding, focusing on education, scientific research, and community service activities related to autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and behavioral disorders in children.
The two sides promised to promote both online and in-person training programs for lecturers, healthcare professionals, volunteers, and students in healthcare and mental health-related fields. Delegates also discussed opportunities to strengthen professional exchanges, share expertise and information, and collaborate on research and healthcare projects for children and adults in response to community needs.
Assoc. Prof. Tran Thai Thanh Tam, MD, PhD, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, presented proposals for future cooperation.
Dr. Le Minh Huu, MD, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Public Health, shared suggestions for collaborative activities between the two sides.
Addressing at the ceremony, Prof. Nguyen Trung Kien, MD, PhD, Rector of CTUMP, emphasized that the Memorandum of Understanding would serve as an important basis for the implementation of future cooperation activities. Prof. Nguyen Trung Kien also expressed the hope that the partnership would continuely to be developed and its accomplishment will be the contribution in healthcare services for children as well as the broader community in the Mekong Delta region.
Representatives of Project Vietnam Foundation affirmed their willingness to work closely with CTUMP’s faculties and departments in implementing training programs, faculty development activities, research collaboration, and community outreach initiatives in the coming years.

The signing ceremony was conducted in a cordial and cooperative atmosphere, marking the beginning of a promising partnership and paving the way for practical collaborative activities between the two sides during the 2026–2030 period.
