On July 21, 2026, during the program's opening ceremony, CTUMP students were introduced to the exchange partnership between the two universities and Thailand's healthcare management system. The session provided an overview of the organizational structure, operational methods, and development direction of Thailand's healthcare system, laying the groundwork for students to better understand the local pharmacy practice landscape.

As part of the academic activities, students toured Walailak University Hospital to explore its facilities, organizational structure, and the operational workflows of the Hospital Pharmacy Department. Through these tours and interactions with the pharmacy staff, students had the opportunity to observe firsthand the role of pharmacists in medication management, dispensing, and supporting patient treatment.

During their academic and professional exchange activities at the hospital, students—alongside lecturers and clinical pharmacists from the School of Pharmacy at Walailak University—discussed outpatient cases and inpatient medical records. They focused on analyzing cases, evaluating medication use, and formulating appropriate treatment plans, thereby enhancing their knowledge of clinical pharmacy, treatment assessment skills, and multidisciplinary collaboration in patient care.

Under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suriyon Uitrakul, the delegation had the opportunity to explore and observe the operational models of the pharmacy on the Walailak University campus as well as community pharmacies outside the university. This activity enabled students to learn about operational workflows, medication management, and the differences in pharmacy practice across hospital, university, and community pharmacy settings in Thailand.

In addition to academic and professional exchange activities, CTUMP pharmacy students and lecturers from both universities participated in tours of prominent cultural and tourist sites in Nakhon Si Thammarat province. This provided an opportunity for CTUMP students to learn about local history, culture, and people, while also fostering interaction and gaining firsthand experience of the learning and living environment in Thailand.

On July 31, 2026, the internship concluded with a presentation on the knowledge, skills, and experiences gained by CTUMP students during the program.

The academic exchange program for CTUMP Pharmacy students at Walailak University, Thailand, not only provided access to advanced pharmacy training and practice models but also helped enhance professional competence and international communication skills, while strengthening the cooperative relationship between Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy and Walailak University in the fields of education and scientific research.
