WELCOME STUDENTS FROM AUSTRALIAN CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY (ACU) TO VISIT AND STUDY AT CAN THO UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY

Among the group of 19 students, 17 students specialized in Speech Therapy, 2 students specialized in Occupational Therapy. The purpose of the five-day visit was to learn about the community healthcare model as well as the contents from the National Criteria for Commune Health have been implemented in Vietnam with the guidance and teaching by lecturers from Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

Throughout the course of the trip, the ACU students had visited many places including hospitals and medical centers in Can Tho City specifically: Can Tho Orthopedic & Rehabilitation Hospital, Can Tho Traditional Medicine Hospital, Can Tho Cardiovascular – Stroke Hospital, and Commune health stations in Phong Dien District. The major educational topics were family-centered care for stroke patients, elderly healthcare, National Criteria for Commune Health and Vietnamese national policies in community healthcare.

On July 5th 2019, Representatives from Scientific Research and International Cooperation Office of CTUMP organized a closing ceremony to review and share more information about public health field between students of the two countries, lessons learned and knowledge gained after the visit. After the closing ceremony, the ACU students were awarded a certificate and also participated in a social gathering with CTUMP students.
